The Bismarck-Mandan area is booming. Never mind the national housing slump; houses are popping up around the edges of both towns and it seems like new retail stores are opening all the time.
At least some of that is due to people migrating from farms and very small towns to the more metropolitan areas, but a lot of it stems from true economic growth. North Dakota is attracting good, solid companies like Microsoft (the company has its second largest plant in Fargo).
According to Gov. John Hoeven and Department of Commerce Commissioner Shane Goettle, the state now has to look at ways to develop a strong and viable workforce to fill all the jobs that are being created. It’s something to keep an eye on!
