That’s according to this Bismarck Tribune article, which asserts that schools in North Dakota aren’t feeling the economic pinch like schools in other areas of the country. There seem to be two factors at play here: 1) North Dakota was more conservative in its lending and mostly avoided the housing crisis, and 2) during this past legislative session the state added more money to the school system and created a new, more equitable funding formula.
From the article:
State aid recently increased to some school districts based on a new state school funding formula. Coupled with local property tax values that showed an increase for the last year, districts are bringing in more revenue compared to previous years to cover increased costs.
It will be interesting to watch what happens for education during the upcoming legislative session.
