This photo shows the edge of a very piney area in southwestern North Dakota, near Amidon.  It’s one of the very truly wooded areas of the state.  My family and I went camping there a few years ago.  It’s become one of our favorite spots.

It’s located in Slope County, southwest of Dickinson.
