Published by gwen June 9th, 2008 in Energy.According to this Minot Daily News article, there are several good-paying unfilled jobs in the northwestern corner of North Dakota, due to recent success drilling the Bakken oil formation.
From the article:
Moving into early June, Minot finds itself under a heavy barrage of interest from energy companies exploring possibilities of moving into the Magic City.
And:
Job Service North Dakota is advertising a glut of available jobs in the industry. A search Thursday utilizing the term “oilfield” turned up 122 available jobs, many in northwest North Dakota and several in Minot. All, it seems, are positions offering good pay.
Minot was also the scene of a recent convergence, as more than 1,000 people attended the annual Williston Basin Petroleum Conference and Tech Expo, held on the state fairgrounds.
The article also lists several companies who are expanding into Minot or the Bakken area.
As many people on the blogosphere call the Bakken area the New Saudi Arabia, some people think we should be looking more into nuclear energy. This article states that DTE Energy, a Detroit-based energy company, would like to add to their existing nuclear power plant.
