Gwinner, North Dakota is home to Bobcat Company.  The business manufactures and sells Bobcat skid-steer loaders both nationally and nationally, and it has had a strong economic impact on ND.  The town of Gwinner even has a small Bobcat loader on its welcome sign. 

According to the Bismarck Tribune, a there’s a delightful new Bobcat development:  a book describing the company’s history and some specifics about the loaders themselves. 

The most impressive thing about Bobcat, as far as I’m concerned, is how it got its start.  The company began with two North Dakota farmers who liked to tinker with farm machinery and invent easier ways of getting things done.

This kind of hard work and creativity seems to be a North Dakota tradition.
