Infamous North Dakota: Room To Grow As Energy Production Increases
Published by gwen January 14th, 2008 in Energy, North Dakota People.A National Geographic article about North Dakota, The Emptied Prairie, has stirred some feelings here in the great state of North Dakota. Northern Girl’s perspective on the article is that the state should capitalize on the media attention. I agree.
The people visiting here can only write about what they see, but there’s so much more that goes unseen and unsaid. This time in the spotlight is an open window for sharing the good things about our state that most people know nothing about.
Like the possibility that North Dakota could have more oil reserves than Saudi Arabia. North Dakota is well situated for increased energy production from wind, biomass and fossil fuels. The unfilled spaces means we have plenty of room to expand into these industries.
Having room to grow is always a positive.
UPDATE: I just received a press release from Gov. Hoeven’s office. Apparently Gov. Hoeven is inviting National Geographic back to focus more on the areas where North Dakota is up-and-coming. I imagine this press release will be posted on Gov. Hoeven’s web site soon.

Thanks for the link!
(What Hoeven wrote wasn’t really what I had in mind, but whatever. Doing something is better than doing nothing, I guess.)
