North Dakota Is Home To The First U.S. Mosque
Published December 7th, 2007 in History, Uncategorized.I learned something new. North Dakota is home to the first U.S. Mosque. Who would have guessed?
UPDATE: The link I provided earlier apparently didn’t work. I linked to a different source, and just now found a very good new one from Prairie Public Radio’s web site. Here it is. Enjoy!

Darn, you beat me to it. I’ve known this for quite some time but didn’t want to post until I got a picture of it (since I run a photo blog and all that). Someday I’ll actually get the photo!

I wonder why. And where is it (lin wasn’t working when I tried it)? There must be an explanation about whiy there were enough Muslims in a North Dakota community to build a mosque
Kate, Thanks for the heads up about the link. I put a new one in. It’s a different source, so I hope it works and gives people the information they need.
I believe the muslims near Ross immigrated together. I also understand there was once a beef-packing factory near Harvey that packed meat for muslims, but I haven’t heard anything about that for a while.
Clint, I sincerely hope you get a picture!
Wow, who knew that ND would have the first ever American Mosque?
