There’s a new technology available for recycling tires, and it was developed in North Dakota.
The technology has been in the works for the past five years. Now, according to a KXNet article, it’s awaiting funding from a major investor and could eventually be marketed across the nation and globally to reduce pollution from tires. The company, called Delta Energy, was created by Alan Lee and Duane Erickson near Berthold, North Dakota.
From the article:
What’s the big attraction? It seems Delta Energy has answered a question that scientists have been trying to answer for decades.
(Duane Erickson, Delta Energy) “We’re actually doing some things that people have been trying for since the 60s, for 50-60 years. We’ve been able to accomplish what they haven’t been able to do.”
The technology allows about 99 percent of the tire to be returned to some useable form. KX News has promised more on this story, and I’ll be trying to follow it. This kind of innovation and creative problem solving are typical in North Dakota; this time it’s being used in a way that could impact the entire world.
