According to a recent post at Fare Them Well, a blog dedicated to children’s and women’s welfare, North  Dakota officials say fewer families are depending on welfare.

The number of families receiving TANF aid has dropped from 3859 in 1997 to 2073 families this past summer.  While the post indicates that stable jobs aren’t the major reason for the decline in families receiving TANF aid, the last sentence says this:

The drop in welfare families comes in large part because of the state’s excellent economy, state officials said last week.
