North Dakota Children's Honor Choir

One of the four 2007 Children’s Honor Choirs performed in Minot at Eric Ramstad Middle School Saturday, October 6, 2007.  The guest director was Rebecca Petrik, an elementary music teacher from Mandan, North Dakota.

North Dakota’s 2007 Children’s Honor Choirs gave concerts in four different places across the state Saturday afternoon as part of the Surround the State in Song Children’s Choir Festival.   The concerts marked the thirteenth year that the North Dakota chapter of American Choral Directors Association has sponsored a children’s choir festival.

The choirs were located in Grand Forks, Bismarck, Minot and Jamestown.  All were scheduled to sing at 4:00 p.m. Saturday and included up to 100 children drawn from several schools in the areas surrounding the performance locations.

Members of the Children’s Honor Choirs practiced festival songs with their music teachers for around six weeks before the festival.  The children were brought together to rehearse most of the day Saturday with a guest director before the concert.

Besides the 2007 honor choirs, two guest choirs were scheduled to sing at each concert.
