A press release from the North Dakota Department of Insurance, dated October 3, 2007, stated that North Dakota has the lowest auto insurance rates in the nation.

This is the second year in a row that North Dakota has had the lowest average auto insurance rates in the country.  According to the press report, the rates are lower than in the previous year and sit about 33% lower than the national average.

The press report lists the most expensive and least expensive states for average auto insurance rates as well as a short list showing rates in states bordering North Dakota.
