North Dakota’s state employee’s recognition week began Monday with a luncheon, where five state state employees were presented with the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Public Service, a press release posted on Gov. Hoeven’s web page said.

Those five employees come from wonderfully diverse careers.  My favorite was Darlene Pixley, whom the press release lists as “a baker for the Union Dining Center” at North Dakota State University.

Kudos to Gov. Hoeven and his staff and to any political administration that sees fit to honor people in service industries.  Those people work hard and deserve far more appreciation than they usually get.
